Got a flat right now?

1. Get off the road somewhere safe and turn on your hazards.
2. Don't keep driving on it. Driving on a flat can ruin a tire that could have been saved.

Patch or plug?

A plug fills the hole from the outside. A patch seals it from the inside of the tire.

When a tire can't be fixed

Most nail and screw holes in the tread can be repaired. Damage in the sidewall or the shoulder can't, and neither can a hole bigger than 1/4 inch. A tire that got driven on flat can be ruined inside even if it looks fine from the outside.
